Meet Carrot

Well, we finally have mobility. It started with throwing out the arms at an unreachable object and then dragging both legs to catch up, followed shortly afterwards by real (albeit frankensteinish) crawling. What, you may ask, precipitated this wondrous milestone? Was it mommy, waving and clapping her hands like an idiot, urging Makeda on? Perhaps a favourite toy, purchased by one of Makeda's loving family or friends? Of course not. It was carrot. Stinky, crusty carrot. Cherished first dog toy of dear Ruff. Noseless, and largely hairless after 6 years of constant use and abuse (carrot, not Ruff). But it did the job. A close second in the movement enticement category was my crackberry. In fact, she showed real hustle when that was up for grabs. And, I have to say, that's the best use I've seen that little piece of communications equipment put to yet.

yay for Makeda!! And extra yay for Carrot for being so damn motivating.

My girl loves the dog's disgusting Kong toy more than any of her own. It's truly gross.

Right on, Makeda!

She's going to be running around the house before you know it.

Well...there is no doubt she is one of us....a true Insley. Brilliant, talented and a wee bit disgusting.

Isn't it funny the things that kids enjoy, meanwhile we spend all of this money on toys. Bolt everything down, before you know it she'll be tearing it down!

Yay Makeda! Now your mom and the dogs will really be on the run. She may start to regret all the stairs in the house! I must say one level living is fairly relaxing at this stage.

That toy houses a disgusting collection of dog gob, dust mites, dirt and pathogens. I should know--it's been in my mouth, too.

At least she'll never get another cold...

As for the Crackberry, I assume she was putting it to good use (Bet $5 on "Hoof Hearted" to win in the 6th, Makeda).

Yum, doggy carrot! That Makeda--she knows to eat her veggies

Meklit boogied whenever we left a glass on the floor (by the spot we were sitting) or any of Elliott's age 3+ toys--tasty, the crunch of little legos in the morning!
